Marseille soap (Savon de Marseille) is widely used in France to clean anything from laundry to kitchen surfaces. It is a traditional soap made from vegetable oils and produced around Marseille in France for about 600 years ago.
Hypoallergenic with no fragrance, preservatives, palm oil or animal additives, it is made with 72% Olive Oil.
You can use it as a:
- Body Bar (Can be used on all skin types, eczema-prone skin or sensitive skin)
- Stain Remover
- Dishwashing Soap (Can be used on all kinds of clothes, even the most delicate of clothes and baby clothes)

How to Use:
Body bar: For daily use on the body. Massage bar directly onto wet hands and skin. Keep the bar dry between each use.
You can incorporate it into your skincare routine to cleanse your face, hair, and body. Dermatologists often recommend this soap for people dealing with eczema or psoriasis.
Stain Remover: Wet the stain with cold water and rub the soap directly onto the spot. Leave it to absorb for a few hours. Lather it up with some water and wash it off. Machine wash after if necessary.
Dishwashing: This soap is a natural de-greaser, and can effectively remove traces of oil and leftover food stains. Unlike commercial dishwashing liquids, this soap is not drying on your hands.
You can even make your own natural dishwashing liquid with Marseille soap. Just mix 1/2 cup of Marseille soap flakes with warm water and add one or two drops of essential oils for a fresh scent.

I bought the Marseille soap one month ago, and there’s still half left!
What I used it for:
– Handwash (Used a knife to scrap into soap flakes and added hot water to dissolve it into a liquid)
– Dishwash (Same as above)
– Bodywash (Just lather on my body, this soap makes me feel squeaky clean! However, it might not be so suitable for hair)
How did I use it for so many things?
I actually wanted to cut the soap into half, but it broke into smaller pieces. So that’s where inspiration struck and I turned it into a handwash liquid!
What else can you use it for?
– Laundry wash (Just add baking soda)
Overall its a good value for money due to its many uses, but do take note its more like a traditional soap, so don’t be too surprised by the smell of it!

My second review as I did use it to wash my laundry with this method:
– 25g of Marseille soap to 1L of water, with 1 tbsp of baking soda and 20-30 drops of Essential oil of choice
1. Cut 25g of Marseille soap into soap flakes!
2. Pour and mix into 1L of hot boiling water
3. Once cooled, add in 1 tbsp of baking soda and 20-30 drops of essential oil
Use 200ml of mix for 5kg (or a normal load) of laundry!
Its super effective! No smell afterward, really clean and does the job! My mum also likes it as she has allergies, and this soap is perfect for her!
I recently tried using liquid Marseille soap (made from the soap flakes) for body wash, but I still prefer the laundry wash the best!
